Some Things That Came Home With Me On Recent Visit To Posh on Palm!

(Love that Store!)

This lamp was reconstructed using parts from three different lamps,
and the shades were embellished with vintage laces and flowers.

She has found a home in my Antique Bedroom...love my vintage blocks from a local antique store here in Brandon.

Are these not just the cutest glitter birds!?..... I love their curly feathers!

Love these worn out pink ballet slippers. Have wanted a pair for a long while, so on this trip they came home with me!
I hung them with the roses I've dried out and perserving that hubby got for me for Mother's Day in my sewing studio!

My Sweet Little Finch and Her New Friend - Mr. Frog! LOL Not So Much!

The Most Entertaining Sillies That Happen Around Here! :)

Was taking a break from sewing out on my back porch,

when all of a sudden there was this commotion going on in the large bird cage we have out here...

for my bird who was actually born in that nest right here at home! She is 6 now.

We had 15 of them at one time until a raccoon got the cage door open one night...was so sad!

"ShabbyGirl" is my sweet little Finch, and she has just discovered again

Mr. Frog has come to visit uninvited...she is not really too fond of Mr. Frog.......

"I'm almost there.....ohohoh ... water fun!" says Mr. Frog

Rut Row Mr. Frog....you gonna be in troooouble!

.............Shabbygirl is a bit ticked off he's in her water dish!

She looks at me like she's saying, "Mom, What's Up With This Green Slippery Dude!"

Mr. Frog in the water dish cooling off and just hanging out!

He has made visits every evening for about the last 4 weeks now hehe!

Well she ain't having it, so heads to her nest!

Says, she ain't coming out till he leaves!

GGGGGRRRRRRR!!!! "Is he gone yet!?"

What!!!???? Whad I do!?? Geeeessshhhh!

This is what she always does, she ducks her face down and sticks her little butt up in the air thinking,

if I can't see you, you can't see me! She's a bit miffed at the moment!

Frog ducks down too...."Can she see me now!?"

NO...but I can smell you! HA!

Mr. Frog tries to duck down when I take the dish out of the cage to change Shabbygirls water ...

hehe, like he thinks I'm won't see him either! haha....

Off you go Mr. Frog! ShabbyGirl wants her water dish back!

I'd be careful if I was you...she might just take to pecking you to death!

haha...I ain't afraid of her!.......later!! :)

Altered Art Vintage Mannequin Dress Form

A Vintage Treasure of Memories

Here is the newest addition to my crazy obession with collecting vintage mannequins...acutally, mannequins period!

This is Lady Annabelle!

Found this little sweetie at my favorite local antique shop....

the lady there teases me with things she knows I like lol, this is the second one

I have bought from her now, I need to stay away from there for a long while,

because I just know she is working on another just to entice me again!

Don't care for the gold wooden base on this one, so one day I'll redo it!

Totally love the rest of her!

She was altered using old vintage fashion magazine cutouts, vintage laces,

a vintage lace tablecloth, vintage buttons, some ribbon flowers, a

gorgeous piece of hand crocheted lace for her skirt, some wall paper,

old sheet music, a rose, lace appliques, and some gimp! The waist has been tied

with a wide width of black satin ribbon tied in a large bow in the back!

I just love love love her! The articles from the

magazine are fun and interesting to read too!

Lots of ads for corsets and ladies under clothing...I love the fashions back then!

Don't you just adore the fashions back in the day!? I do TOO! :)

Even a sewing machine ad! I just think she is so UNIQUE!!!

Cameo Kids Will Be Closed From Now Until Mid August

We apologize for the inconvience this may cause, but we just

found out we have to move. For the next 60 days, we have a

lot of work to do to down size, get rid of, pack, and get ourselves

moved, so I won't be able to do any custom orders. If there is something

you really want that is already pre-made, just give us a call at 813-651-9402

to order. I can ship things that are ready to ship but just will not have time

to do anything new. All existing orders will be completed and shipped soon.

Fancy Flea Market in Lakeland Florida April 30 2001

Can Anybody Say WOW!

This past Saturday I attended the "Fancy Flea" in Lakeland, FL. It took place in the historic district in the downtown area on Kentucky Ave. The street bumps right up to the lovely Munn Park. I must say this was the most Fabulous flea market I have ever been too! It was two blocks long with tents set up on both sides of the street! I swear, if I had had the money I could of bought something in every single booth! I also would have needed a U-Haul to take my treasures home!

I met so many friends from Facebook and Blog Land that I have been following, and or friends with for a while! Several folks I know had booths there and I made many new friends also. It was great fun, a perfect sunny warm day, the perfect setting, and the most fabulous stuff Ever!

I took tons of pictures acutually filling up my camera, my cell phone, and then used my sisters cell. Even with that, there was a ton that I missed...bad thing was though, because I was so busy and excited taking pictures, I missed seeing some things I have been looking for and saw them in my pictures! Drats, darn, dang it! Oh well, they do this event twice a year so they'll be back this fall and maybe I'll be able to score on that one! Ok with no futher babbling, Let's See the Pictures! You can meet some of my very talented, sweet friends too! This is going to be tough because I have so many great pictures of great stuff and there is no way I can post them all so I'll show my favs!

Altered Couture - My Favorite Top Now a Onesie Dress for Emma

My Favorite Top Becomes a Dress for Granddaughter!

I had this top that I just love, but I have out grown it...or lets just say it shrunk!

I couldn't bare to give it away, so as I sat debating on keeping it in case my body

shrinks again...I had this vision! I'll make my granddaughter Emma a dress with it!

I love working with baby onesie's and I have these 24M size ones that are very large

and they fit Miss Emma even though she is now three. I pulled one out and went to

work and this is what the end result was.

Top in it's original form....and Emma's Onesie Dress

I so so Loved this top!

This had a cami attached underneath which I used as lining in the skirt of Emma's dress.

The outer fabric is very sheer. Love the lace and seqin and pearl flowers too.

Isn't this just way cute!?

I did a tye dye tea stain on the onesie to start. Once dryed I carefully laid the top over the onesie and cut it to fit the front for the bodice. Then I used the bottom half of the top along with the cami underneath to make the onesie skirt. The top of the skirt is all raw edged. The ties that were on the back of the top became a tied bow at the skirts waist. I cut all the tatted like lace off the top, and and reapplied it to edged the neckline and sleeves of the onesie, and then trimmed the raw edge of the bodice lace with more. I took another strip of the tatted lace along with a strip of the fabric to make a rolled rose flower for the neckline of the dress. This still snaps at the bottom of the onesie underneath.

I was so excited with the end result...It came out better than I had first invisioned it!

Miss Emma showing off her new dress with her brother, and my handsome grandson Parker. Emma is so picky with what she wears, I was afraid she wouldn't put it on, but she loved it! Yea!!! Score 1 for grandma! :) And....it fit perfect!! Look at the freckles on those faces! :)

Back to busy baking in her own little kitchen!

Not a good photo, but she had to do her high styling modeling...such a funny girl!

Now my favorite top lives on for a while longer for both of us girls to enjoy!

I also had a pair of plain white Mary Jane shoes made for Emma that I have also tea dyed. I'm making rolled rose flowers to attach to them. Once I get Emma in the whole set, I'll share the picture!

Newly Designed Vintage Pillowcase Dress at Cameo Kids Boutique

Ruffled Vintage Pillowcase Dress

After taking a bit of a breather we are back on track with creating and adding new items to the boutique. We have a lot of catching up to do in the bloggy world too! We've been busy and lazy, and enjoying the lazy part after a very very busy 2010 lol. I realized Spring is poking her sunny head through, at least where we live anyway, and Easter is just around the corner, so I needed to get my fanny in gear because I have so many things on my list of creations, and my get at it list! I have a new style to offer for our vintage pillowcase dresses. It's actually a combination of two patterns, "The Original Pillowcase Pattern", and another pattern I have but did a little tweeking to that too. This is the first little gem I worked with to bring it to life.

Meredith, Our first Ruffled Vintage Pillowcase Dress!
She's just ADORABLE!!

The Beautiful Hand Crocheted Hemline!

This is Meredith. This is our ruffled pillowcase dress, the first and is sized for 4T to size 5, might even fit a little girl's size 6 depending on the child. It measures 23 1/2"L from shoulder to hem. The ruffle around the neckline and up over the shoulders is stretchy allowing for more comfort and on this dress it is made from a soft vintage feedsack cotton fabric. This just pulls over the head to wear. No more fussy ribbons to deal with, but I do like that style alot. I added a rescued piece of vintage cream colored lace with three little pink satin rosettes from an old dress, and added it to her neckline for embellishment. The lacey hemline of the dress is hand crocheted in white, and edged in a sweet pink. She turned out really sweet and is ready to ship if this is the one you like, and the size you need. She is a one of a kind and there won't be another like her.

Darling Handmade Holiday Aprons - Mimi's Needle and Thread

Sharing Another Handmade Crafter & A New Friend

It's that time of year again girls! We're off to the business of holiday baking and creating our menus for those wonderful family gatherings to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas! With that thought in mind for all you ladies big and small, I would like to introduce you to a lovely lady who creates the cutest and most festive aprons! Her name is Iris, and she has an online Etsy shop called Mimi's Needle and Thread.

Iris creates many other things too, like crocheted beverage cozies, crocheted or knitted hats for women and little girls, hand made accessories for babies, dolls, plus a whole lot more. She has been sewing for over 30 years, loves to do custom orders to give you something no one else has, and she is just the sweetest funniest lady. I just love her and I'm so glad to now call her my friend.

She recently had this apron listed and I loved it! (shown below). I love chickens and roosters and when I saw this, it just had to be mine. She also did one for my lil granddaughter Emma which I just gave her on her birthday. Now her mommy wants one, so Iris is making that up for her and we are going to start our baking together for the holidays come this week. Emma and I love our aprons! They are superbly made, and from 100% cotton, so we can just throw them in the washer and dryer, and get back to more days of having kitchen fun!

Sweet Vintage Hanky Purse Creations

One of My Favorite Things to Create - Vintage Hanky Purses

I'm always thrilled when I get orders for vintage hanky purses. I totally love the beauty of the florals of nature that you find in so many of these treasures. I have collected hundreds of these tears and nose wipers over the years and love creating with them. I have used them to embellish or accent so many things over the years I can't even count them anymore. I have used them as aprons or pinafores and even little skirts on baby onesies, embellishments on vintage pillowcase dresses, made head scarves, fabric flowers, ruffles and pockets on pants, dresses, tops, jackets, and onesies, collars on some of my baby creatons, hanky neck scarves, belts, headbands, hanky bonnets, made all different styles and shapes of lavender sachets with them, baby blankets and quilts, heirloom hanky dolls or church dolls as some call them, hanky bunnies, and adorable little purses in all shapes and sizes. I have even made valances for windows and shower curtains. Vintage hankies are so much fun to create with and each item is one of a kind and ever so charming. And then there are a few that are so beautiful and unique that they have ended up framed and hanging on the wall. One of these days I have a pattern for a christening gown using the lacey bridle vintage hankies. It's gorgeous! Some day when when I can get to it. Here are the latest hanky purse creations for one of my customers. These will be Christmas gifts for her nieces.

A Sweet Tea Stained Vintage Inspired Altered Baby Onesie

It's been a long long time since I've made one of these, about 3 years as a matter of fact. Boy time flies! I've been wanting to make more of these for months now but I have been so busy with custom orders all summer, actually the rush started at the end of last December, so I haven't been able to do any new creations for a long while. The other night I just couldn't sleep. My mind was on all the tons of things I have been wanting to make and ideas were just flooding my mind. I hate that when I can't shut my mind off because it normally means I will be up and down all night long, and then the next day I don't get anything accomplished because I'm whipped! Well this was one of those nights so I decided that if I couldn't sleep...I was going to create something. I have a ton of baby onesies along with a huge collection of vintage images that have just been waiting to become something. They have been on my mind for weeks now so thats what I decided to make. I went downstairs to put on a batch of tea then trotted back up the stairs to my sewing cave with this vision I had and set out to find all the items I would need to bring it to life. Well like always this little creation turned out entirely different from what I had first imaged it to be. Once I start the process of making something, it just takes its own course just like it already knows how it supposed to be when finished, so I just follow along to do the work and give it life. That's always the best part of sitting down to make something. I never really know what it will end up looking like when it's done. It's always an adventure! It most always ends up much better than I had planned too. Well this little sweetie was an all night until about 7:30AM project. I kept changing this and that until it was done and I was so excited with the finished product that I had to go wake up my hubby so he could see it. He just loves me when I do that. NOT! But, he is always so sweet about it. Well at least it got this nagging desire out of my system so I can get back to my orders and concentrate on them. It also made another day of dragging my fanny and not accomplishing much at all. But it is really cute!

The onesie was tea dyed, along with a vintage lace doily, a piece of a vintage lace tablecloth, and a strip of vintage feedsack fabric. Some vintage buttons, black satin ribbon for bows, and a tiny rose ribbon rose flower were added for embellishments and a sprinkle of pop. Then I added this darling vintage image transfer of the cutest little girls, one of my favorites. Lastly I got out my fabric paint and letter stamps. Several hours later and yawnng my tail off because once I start something unless my head hits the table, I can't stop until it's done, my nagging creative mind finally let me sleep. But, I have something new to offer in the boutique which has been sadly ignored all summer long. The second good thing is I needed to get out of my system creating something different. I still am trying to finish up the last few of the custom orders. I love them, but I miss being able to design or create something I haven't made in a long time or something altogether new.

Well here is the little devil that was just determined to be no matter what time of night it was!

Creating With Vintage Chenille

I love love vintage chenille bedspreads and have collected two closets plus just jammed packed full of them. Normally I find them to use in my children's clothing creations but several have made it to the pile of "I just can't cut these." My husband laughs as that pile seems to be getting larger and larger, but once I get them in the mail as I buy many from the internet, they end up being much more beautiful than the pictures I saw and in perfect shape. I have four antique full size beds and they fit perfect so I really do use them. There are a few twin size ones that don't fit and I probably will never use them, but I just can't bare to cut them up, at least not at the moment. I remember as a child having chenille bedspreads used on my bed and I just hated them. All my little girlfriends had fancy frilly ones so I thought mine were more like a grandmother's because my grandmother used them too.

Oh but now .... I think they are gorgeous! A bit of growing up and maturing has helped that i'm sure, but I also have a passion for things from the old days especially the beautiful linens of yesterday.

I have used chenille in many creations from clothing for children, to stuffed animals, and gift items for moms. I love the designs and textures of chenille and the uniqueness of the creations I make with them. I have even researched the history of how chenille bedspreads were made as I'm always so curious, and found it a fascinating story which I will share another day.

Below are some of my creations, some with a little chenille, some with alot, and of course several different types and colors. My Very Very favorite chenille is called "squiggly chenille" which I use alot for my vintage chenille pantaloons, and if ordered with our peasant style pillowcase dress, the sleeves are done in that too. It's very hard to find, but every once in a while I get lucky. I always try to use every inch of my chenilles as I hate to waste any of it. Some of these items are available at our Cameo Kids Boutique, and some are no longer available. You are always welcome to ask if we can recreate something you might have a fancy to if it is no longer available. We do custom orders all the time!

This was created using a vintage pattern and vintage bates chenille. Lots of work went into this sweetie. Back in the early 70's, my daughter had a romper very similar to this one. And it was in pink but not chenille. Wish I had kept that! This one is truly beautiful in person and the pink is gorgeous! There is a little chenille bunny sitting there by the flowers too.

Vintage Lives On - A Grow With Me Pillowcase Dress

The beauty of vintage linens just comes alive when transformed or recycled into beautiful heirloom dresses and pantaloons for little girls. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the hand work of women years and years ago into something so sweet, to again cherish it's beauty in a new form and a promise of new life. It simply amazes me everytime no matter how many hundrends of these I've made, just how cute and precious each one becomes. I'm just ticklely gigglely all over again. This old vintage pillowcase matched with an old vintage chenilled bedspread is now all of that and more. This darling set is on it's way to a little girl who hasn't even had her first breath of life yet, and will be her first gift from mommy and daddy to welcome her to this world. This will be an heirloom for sure with the hope of a little girl of hers also wearing it again some day! I just get goosey bumps thinking of it!

OH What Have I Done to My Hubby! LOL

This is Just Too Funny!

I just couldn't help sharing this! My Jack is one of my biggest fans, and always so supportive. Before his stroke two years ago, this man would make runs to the fabric store anytime I needed, and Wal-Mart even at 2:00AM when I needed something for whatever I had run out of like thread, seam binding, ribbon, etc. He has done it so much he actually knows exactly what I'm talkng about without having to take a sample with him! He isn't the FRU FRU type, but he loves the sweet things I have created with my vintage linens and always tells me how proud he is of me and my mind. He is so so wonderful and I feel so lucky to have him.

Well the other day as we were leaving his accupunture appointment for his stroke rehab, I happened to look up at the sky and the clouds. I said to him, "sweetie look at those clouds! I have never seen anything like that before. It almost looks as if one huge cloud had blown up and scattered little puffs everywhere!" He says lol, "It looks like CHENILLE!" I just looked at him and cracked up! As I looked again I said, "yes they really do!" I told him "I have ruined you!" He said, "Just don't tell my friends" hehe!

(I use vintage chenille bedspreads in alot of my children's clothing creations so he sees it often.)

Some Sweet Vintage and Antique Finds

I Found a New Antique Shop!

It's Just to Die For Fabulous!

On the way home from an appointment the other day I finally stopped at this antique shop I have passed by a bazillion times! I had my camera even! This is one of the greatest antiques shops I have ever seen! I took a few pictures but then the battery on the darn camera died! I'm going back as soon as I can and I'll share with you this awsome place just packed with thousands of treasures. I can't believe its taken me so long to stop in. You will love it!

After only two and half rooms as this is in an old house, I couldn't stand it anymore. I went to the two ladies working that day, and said "you all need to do more than just this store. You need to expand your window of opportunity to more than just the people who drive by here, because you have some gorgeous treasures here, and I know hundreds of people who would love to buy this stuff!" We had a little chat which got them excited. I then gave them a few places they could get started real easy on the internet. We're going to get together so I can show them this whole new world to explore for sales for themselves and treasures for you and me. I almost hate sharing them though lol. I can't wait to be able to get back there myself. I think I might need a loan because there was tons of stuff I would love to have! And they had some of the most amazing vintage toys, many of which brought back memories for me. Ewww, not so sure that is a good thing. That's telling my age when they now consider toys of my day antiques! Think I'll also need a bigger house to boot! I really need to stop going to these places! They will be great though for decorating the grandkids rooms with.

This is some of the treasures I did purchase.

One vintage hanger with a boy on it that I had to talk the lady into selling me lol

Two beautiful beautiful vintage 1940's christening dresses that are mint with one having a jacket, hat, slip, and the dress, the other was a dress with slip

A little wicker chair for my hanky dolls

A mint condition large vintage sugar feedsack

Two beautiful photos of vintage women in scrolly tin like frames

And, two pairs of vintage baby shoes, one pair being 1800's brown high tops with buttons up the side, and in really pretty good shape for the age. The white ones are a bit beat up but they reminded me of a pair something like my daughter had when she was little.

I spent $129.00 with the little brown shoes costing the most., but not near as much as I have seen on the net or other shops, so it was a great buy! I have always wanted a pair of them for my antique bedroom. Here is just a couple of pics of the treasures I now call mine. I'll blog more another time about this great shop with lots of pictures too! They have tons of everything you could think of, and it made me think of so many of you!

What I Have Been Doing All Summer - Sewing Sewing Sewing!

Busy Busy Summer at the Boutique and Homefront!

This has truly been the busiest time in Cameo Kids History! I have had so many custom orders this summer and I'm still sewing. A few more to go and then I'm taking a break! I've been trying to get a new website for Cameo Kids, but have had so little time to finalize everything so who knows when that will be finished. I have tons of stuff to photo and get up on the boutique that should have been up months ago! I also have new ideas to create to sell too. I wish I didn't have to sleep, it just gets in the way of my time lol. I haven't been able to blog much and have so much to share with you. My facebook and tweeting has been minimal too. There is just so much to do and keep up with in a day and there is only just little ol me, and that's just in work. Then there is home and hubby! My family I haven't seen much at all and that makes me sad. The summer is over and they are back in school and time is just flying by!

My husband and I are also having to look for a place to live as the house we have rented for over three years now is up for a short sale. The economy has hit hard the owner of the home as he is in the home industry. He has already lost two homes. We are keeping our fingers crossed that a recent bid on the house will be accepted by the bank because they want us to stay. We want to stay until we are ready to move. If my husbands company sells by December like their hoping for, we have found some beautiful property on a lake to build a house there hopefully by the start of the year. There are just so many things going on in our lives right now it's just unbelieveably crazy and nerve wracking but some things being exciting all at the same time!

My Favorite Place In the World to Be

This cloud looks like an angel is flying over. This is God's world!

This is my favorite place to be. The beachs at Longboat Key, FL. or Lido Beach FL.

I love going to the beach anytime and all the time when I can. But I must say the beach is also my place to find peace and serenity when the world seems to stressful, or when life feels like it's falling apart. Many times I will drive down to the beach during the day or sometimes even late in the evening when I feel I need to talk and connect with God and feel close to him. I always feel so much better and my burdens feel lighter. I have even thrown some clothes and the overnight bag in my Explorer, along with my pillow and blanket and headed to the beach and slept right in the car at one point during my divorce. I stayed for two nights and 3 days. It's the place where I can think and sort things out. It's a place for peace and clearing my mind. It's the place where I feel....free! Free from an ugly world and what it can do to a person.

I point my face out to the ocean and sky. I watch the birds fly freely above and listen to the chatter of the seagulls. Sometimes I'll see dolphins swim by. I love the breeze in my face and blowing through my hair. The smell of the salt water and the soft feel of the white sand on my feet is mesmerizing. It's quiet. This is where I feel God on a good day or bad day, and I always find peace and comfort here. It's the most beautiful place I know with the never ending blue skies, the rolling waves, the white sand, the delightful smells, the sounds of water hitting the shore, the beautiful sun shining, the gorgeous sunsets, and peace and quite. How did he create such beauty!? I always look forward and keep the world at bay behind me until it's time to leave. I close my eyes and pray, talk to God, and listen. I always feel him. When I'm ready to turn around where life awaits me to leave, I feel alive and ready to go back home with a renewed sense of strength, and sure sense of God's love, and know I can and will be ok. I'm calm and alive again and know that the God that created all of this is still with me.

My heart, mind, and soul knows once again, I'm not in this world alone.
God, Water, and Me are One Again! I'm New Again!

Update on Our Sweet Emma

Thank You to All of our Friends and Family for Caring and Praying for Our Emma

With all she has been through, she is such a brave little girl!

They finally took her to surgery at about 8 something Tuesday morning. Thank God she didn't have to have any pins put in the bones, but they still had to knock her out to set the bones and a couple of hours later this is what she now sports around. This cast goes from her chest on down the whole of her right leg to her ankle, and half of her left leg, all round her back and pelvis, and then leaving an opening for her to potty where a diaper is just laid under her and pulled up over the front to make sure her cast doesn't get wet or soiled.

In two weeks they will remove all of this and x-ray her leg. If it hasn't healed enough, they will put this same thing back on her for another two weeks and then check again. They say it could be like this for 6 to 8 weeks. They stopped the morphine today with her last dose during the night last night. They now give her Tylenol and she had only had one dose all day today. As I was leaving last night (Wednesday Night) she told the nurse her leg was hurting so they may have given her another dose after I left which was about 10:15PM. Her spirits were really good today, a bit on the crabby side at times but who wouldn't be in that condition. The most painful time is when you have to lift her to change the diaper, or she found out today they had a wheelchair like wagon for her so we could get her out of the room and stroll the halls. Guess what Emma wanted to do ALL Day and most of this evening?! We walked, walked, and walked today. She'd cry when lifted up and over to the stroller wagon, but once we got her settled and legs propped she was good to go. She loved getting out of that room! I wonder though that the reason she didn't want to go back to the room was because she knew it was going to hurt again to put her back in the bed.

She is such a big girl now and so proud of that, that right after she had come out of the anesthetic pretty good, she had to go potty. Now mind you when she was taken to the first hospital the night before around 6:30PM, a bit later she had to go potty. They had put a diaper on her so she could but she refused to go in the diaper. We tried to tell her it was ok but she would just shake her head no and said she was a big girl. Well Emma has been totally potty trained now for about 6 months and she says only babies use diapers and she wanted to go on the potty because she is a big girl she says. We couldn't get her to use the diaper and that baby held it all night and it wasn't until she was unconsious that she fianlly went! After her leg was set and out of recovery back in her room, and several hours later with the IV's running through her, she had to go potty again. Once again we tried to get her to go in the diaper. Once again Emma refused. We would say it was ok to use the diaper but she would shake her head and say nooooo....so the nurse said, "how about a potty for the bed (bed pan), Emma says nooooooo and shook her head, she wanted to use the bathroom and that was it! So the nurse and mommy said ok lets try the bathroom. So they both got on either side to lift her and of course she started crying because it hurt her leg. They went to lay her back down and Emma says noooooooo, she wanted to use the bathroom! So once again they lifted her all the while Emma is crying those big gator tears, and mom and the nurse carried her to the bathroom. It wasn't an easy feat either trying to get her through the doorway without banging her legs or feet. Her little body is in a bit of a curved position so she couldn't sit straight up and down either. While mommy and the nurse held her over the potty, she relaxed a little bit as I think she is so afraid of the pain she tenses making it worse, but she finally started to go, but then stopped. She said she wasn't done but nothing was happening and mommy and the nurse were really struggling trying to hold her there. She is really heavy with the cast on. So I turned on the water in the sink and wala! She went and went. You should have seen the smile on her face. She was beamig with tears still rolling down those sweet little cheeks. Well now she is using the diaper because I think once that was over, she realizes how much pain it causes her to use the big potty, so the diaper isn't so bad at least for now. She is so funny you can't help but laugh at her.

Her nurses have said she is one of the most amazing patients they have ever had. They can't believe how smart and intelligent Emma is for her age. They also can't believe her high tolerance for pain., so that goes to show how much pain she must have been having the night before when her leg was broken. Her screams were unbelieveable! They said with the injury she has and the age she is, most of their patients are given pain meds every 30 minuets. Emma was going about 6 hours in between doses. This was after her leg was set though. When they have to do something that she knows will make her hurt, the tears start flowing and she says nooooo, but will do or let them do what they have too. They have to keep checking her circulation and watch for any swelling. She is always afraid when they have to take her blood pressure and temperature. She also won't let them take her temp under her arm either. Big girls do it by mouth don't ya know. They just get the biggest kick out of her. They have all fallen in love with her. Her nurses have been so wonderful and soft and gentle with her. They are so amazed at how strong she is and tries to be even when she knows it's going to hurt. We're having trouble getting her to eat and she's not even drinking much which is really odd for her as she normally is drinking something all the time. She is hopefully going home today (Thursday), but last night before I left she started spiking a fever, plus she needs to eat more, so we'll see. Hopefully tomorrow she will feel a bit better to make the cut to go home. Keeping our fingers crossed. We are thankful that she is now on the mend, lets just hope it will be sooner than later for her sake. This is going to be really tough on her, because Miss Emma was one very active busy little girl!

The next dilemma is finding someone who can care for Emma while her parents work. She can't go to daycare now and I live 45 minuets away and can't leave my husband everyday for all those hours. My daughter doesn't think I would be able to lift her either because of my messed up back. Her other grandmother is going through therapy for her back and there is nobody else. Her parents can't afford to miss work or they will sink financially...so another issue and trying to find the answer.

She's talking to her daddy and brother's Chase, Parker, and Aiden.

The best part is we are seeing her smile and laugh a little bit again and she is acting more like our Emma! :) Yea!

Thank you so much again for your thoughts and prayers for Emma and her family. This time around has not been as horrifing as my last memory at that hospital. Maybe now I can get some decent sleep and we'll see what our day brings today. My Emma is a beauty inside and out and even though she is doing so much better, it still cruches my heart seeing her like this. Thank goodness she is little and strong and hopefully a year from now she won't remember any of this! And, if her little bones heal quickly she won't have to endure too much therapy so she will be running and playing again soon and once again making my heart leap into my throat waiting for the next boo boo from this little princess wild child! :) Don't ya just love em!

Please Pray for my Little Emma

Please pray for my little granddaughter Emma who is two. Last evening about 6PM her (femur) thigh bone was broken right in half. They had no orthopedic surgeon in Bartow, FL. or Lakeland, FL. so they sent her by ambulance an hour away to Tampa General and wouldn't even let her parents ride with her in the name of liability. Tampa General is the same hospital that dang near killed my husband two years ago and because of that his life is a mess now and who knows if he will ever recover. I'm terrified for my little Emma there. They say they will take her who knows when maybe by 9:30 this morning to surgery to set her leg to cast it. They have been pumping morphine into her all night and she still is screaming and crying. She is so thirsty and screams for some juice but because they have to knock her out, she can't have anything. They say she will have a cast from the waist down for at least 6 to 8 weeks or more. We also won't know until morning whenever, if they will have to do surgery on her leg by putting pins in it. I'm so angry that these pathetic doctors would let this child lay for that many hours before they do anything to help her other than pumping morphine into her and it doesn't seem to help! They claim they have only one doctor working two hospitals for pediatrics! How sorry is that!? Her screams are about to break me! Please pray that God will send his angels to protect her and a decent doctor to help her when ever they decide to get around to it that really knows what he or she is doing to keep something happening to her like what happened to my husband. I'm just sick that that was the only place she could go to. So many horrible things have happened at that hospital! Thank you so much in advance for your prayers! I trust God more than these doctors!

Is That Ok Once In a While?

Whining and Bragging!

It's been a real busy few solid months with sewing custom orders and meeting deadlines. Haven't had much time for anything else. Other than a small break somewhere in my day or night just because I need a few minuets break, or helping hubby with his needs, or to take hubby to rehab for his stroke, or the doctors for checkups, or to the store to keep some food in the house, runs to the post office to mail off orders and runs to the fabric store for something I need, and then errands that need to be done, this is life lately in a nutshell!

The summer is flashing by and I haven't even seen it! I can go 3 or 4 days without getting dressed, (ewwww that doesn't sound pretty lol), so glad the world doesn't see me somedays! I get about four hours asleep a day, missing meals because when I eat I get tired and I can't afford tired right now! My house needs a major cleaning, my laundry is stacking up to get put away but at least it got washed, no time for the lawn work so I have the neighbor boy doing that for me at least till I can find time to do it myself again, and on top of all that we have been informed we are going to have to move, so now every time I turn around there are people coming in and out of my home most of the time with only an hours notice! Then its stop everything I'm doing no matter how important it is and do a fast pick up clean up so the house can be shown. The home we have rented for the last three and a half years is up for a quick sale! If it doesn't sell in whatever time, which we haven't been informed of yet, the bank will foreclose on the owner! Now that means I need to try and find a place to live, pack up by myself a 4 bedroom house full to the brim, and a one bedroom guest house that is full, along with a 3 car garage that is slammed packed, continue working, and do all the other stuff I just mentioned. I'm an expert at STRESSED OUT! And that isn't even the half of it all! Oh dear Lord, help me keep a good mind and give me strength!

But then along comes a day like today that makes it all worth while at least for a moment of time anyway. The time and effort of working a business, working it hard and getting to do what you love. This place where I get to escape all the awful in life and lose myself in creating even if that gets busy and hectic and non stop for days, it can still be a blessing for my mind and sanity. My customers bless their hearts, without even knowing it are my saviors that give me that punch to keep carrying on. Today I received several emails from customers who had just received their packages. Their comments lifted my spirit and put a dance in my step. It also gave me some energy that I was sorely needing. It's always so nice when they take the time to let you know they received their items as I always worry about that, but its even nicer to know they love what they purchase. I always worry about that also! Geez, I sound like a worrying ninny! Well maybe so, but my work is one place in my life that I give all I have to make sure or hopefully anyway, that every customer will be totally happy and satisfied with what they have entrusted me to do for them. I want every dime they spend with me to be worth every penny and no regrets. That's the name of the game isn't it? I have been so fortunate so far, that in the nine or so years of doing this business that I have made my customers happy they chose Cameo Kids to shop with. Today was a good day with so many kind words and appreciation and I got to feel good. I needed that! I have the best customers in the whole wide world!

But that wasn't all I got today! Well actually this email came last month and as I was deleting six thousand emails that had built up as I haven't had time to pay attention to more than what was really important, I almost deleted this one special note. What kept me from doing the delete was that little box that pops up requesting a read receipt for the email. When I first saw it I thought "Oh it's just another junk mail advertisement because it was from someone at a place called "Carol Ross Photography". Well I get tons of junk mail from photograpy places, like learning photograpy, or people advertising what they do, i'm sure you do too, but for some reason this time who knows why I decided to take a look. Always afraid of doing that when I don't know who it is because I have gotten viruses by doing that before, so I always try to be very careful. Well anyway I'm so glad I did look at it!

I don't know how many of you saw the post I did back in June of my visit to Posh on Palm. Well this was an email in regards to that post. They had titled the email with "What a nice Gift". I think that was what peaked my curiosity to the email too. This is what this sweet women wrote me, but there is even more I found out! :)

"Hi Debi,

I just had to let you know that you gave me a wonderful gift by adding to your Cameo Kids Boutique blog the wonderful guided tour of Posh on Palm. Your images were wonderful and your descriptions were great. And how nice that your sweet Mr. wasn't outside pacing the street looking at his watch like most other Mr.'s would be. He deserved that wonderful meal.

I was just flabbergasted! I just thought that was so nice, but then I immediatley felt so bad because I hadn't thanked her for such a nice note, but I didn't know I had it until today, and then almost deleted it. Isn't that just the nicest thing!? Well I had never heard of this photography company before or Professional Photographers of America, or Women's Business Enterprise Council, or Carol Ross! So the next thing I did was click on the website link to Carol Ross Photography to find out who she was. I was shocked to learn about her and even more surprised when I saw her work! I don't know where she came from or how she found my blog, but I was overwhelmed with joy that this women loved the Posh on Palm post, that she loved my pictures and the descriptions, thought my Mr. was something kind of Unique, which he really is, and enjoyed her visit to my story of that day. The reason that I am being so off the chart excited about her note is after visiting her site and discovering who she is and what she has done and all that she has been involved with, this women is over the top as a professional and artist! A Sweet Daughter's Gift

I received an email from a young lady here in the South who was looking for a special gift for her parents. Her parents live in Prattsburgh, New York and own a 1890's Victorian Country Bed and Breakfast, called Feather Tick & Thyme, a home in its own fertile valley on a quiet picturesque country road within minutes of several Finger Lakes attractions. The Bed and Breakfast/Inn is located in the heart of the New York State Finger Lakes Wine Country between Keuka Lake and Canandaigua Lake. That hot air balloon in the picture is there to actually give rides! There is a much better picture at their website..the link is above.

It seems this darling place is quite famous and in 1996 it was a Better Homes and Gardens Home Improvement Contest finalist for Country Victorian and given an honorable mention. It is truly very beautiful!

This young girl had seen some of the personalized hanging lavender sachets I had made on our website and wanted to know if I could make some of these for her parents for their bed and breakfast. When she would visit her parents there, she said her mother would send her up to the rooms for one reason or another and she would always have trouble figuring out which room she was supposed to be going up to, so her idea was to have these lavender sachets made to hang on the door with each one in the name of the rooms. She gave me the website to the bed and breakfast and we discussed colors to use to do the embroidery. After visiting the website and seeing the rooms myself from the photos, I came up with an idea to try to make each sachet coordinate with the room itself.

These were the finished result to the creations. I was happy to hear that her parents absolutely loved them. I was honored to do this for her and for such a wonderful place. I hope one day my husband and I can travel there ourselves for a visit. We love anything old especially bed and breakfast inns, and even more so when it has a history to it too!

Each name on the sachets is the name of the guest rooms at the bed and breakfast. On the website I was excited to see, that when you click on their link for the "Guest Rooms", you can see one of the sachets hanging on the open door when they photographed the room recently. It's the J. G. Sturdevant Guest Room. I believe if I remember right, this J.G. Sturdevant was the man who originally built and owned the home.

These didn't come out to bad considering I haven't been embroidering very long and I taught myself how to hand embroider just by studing the stitches from my huge collection of vintage embroidered linens.

So Many More Than Just I Need Our Hearts to Know This!

This below was in an email to me today.

{Every day, you and I are reminded of how tough life can be. It's true that life can be really hard but don't ever give up on your tomorrows!

Keep believing, keep looking ahead, keep pressing into more and more of what God has for your life no matter what is happening.

Our best days are ahead. God's plan is bigger than just what He wants to do for you — it grows into what God wants to do through you.

The power of God's increase is so great that there are no challenges too big and no circumstances too difficult to be radically transformed.

When you keep on believing in the midst of your storm, not only will God lead you out, but He will lead you into His supernatural increase!

What you see as a major setback is really a divine setup.

God's working through the circumstances in your life to create an incredible moment of progress and promotion. He has pre-ordained seasons of increase in your life — not because of anything you do, but because He wants to pour out His goodness in your life.

God's plan for your life is bigger than simply solving today's problem — He wants to promote you. Through His Word and the power of His Holy Spirit, you will be amazed at what God will do in your life.

Always remember that God is for you and loves to give and help His children.

It's important to hide God's Word in your heart even when you feel like you don't need it because one day, when it feels as if the sun set while it was still day, you'll find strength and encouragement.

Everything you need is found in God's Word. Hope, healing, direction, relational issues, parenting advice, work advice, whatever you're seeking, you'll find it in God's Word.

Even if you just start to meditate on His word three minutes a day, God will bless it.

Here are a few verses for strength and encouragement to meditate on during difficult times.

Psalm 94:19

"In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul." (NKJ)

Amplified Version says, "In the multitude of my [anxious] thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!"

New Living Translation says, "When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer".

Psalm 50:15

"Call upon me on the day of trouble and I will deliver you."

Psalm 142:3

"When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then you knew my path."

Psalm 61:2

"When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I." (One of my many favorites!)

Psalm 62:8

"Trust in Him at all times…God is a refuge for us."

Jeremiah 15:20

"'I am with you to rescue and save you,' declares the Lord."

Zephaniah 3:17

"The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

Remember, God always causes us to come out better. If it's raining here, the sun is always shining somewhere else. The sun will always shine again in your life. God always wants us to come to Him in the day of trouble. And when you call upon Him, He will show you great and mighty things, and He will surely rescue you.}

This was just what I need to remember today. It seems no matter how old I am, or how much my life has been through, the turmoils in my life will still throw me. God must be with me even when my faith wains, because His message seems to find me either through a friend, an email, the title of a book in the store that my eye is drawn to, or even a peice of junk mail in my mail box, but a message all the same letting me know He is there with me, to turn to Him and His Word - to ask and believe.... and my sunshine will shine again. It may not be the way I was hoping for, but it's always BETTER! I'm hanging on for dear life to his word and his promise because nothing or nobody can help me but Him!

I'm praying for all out there, that if your life is in turmoil and you feel like I do... that your day feels like night too.... that you too will turn to God with all your heart, and give the cause of your heavy heart and the tears in your eyes over to Him and leave it alone, and then wait patiently upon Him. He will give us our sunshine again. Believe and have Faith! I have been there done that so many times in my life and He has NEVER let me down.

Today I needed this myself and if I don't get there on my own He always finds me through something and reminds me He is with me. Today He did again and it's always just when I need him too! :) So take a quiet moment and just stop....listen.....and feel.....you'll know God is there still with you too, and he is telling you, "I'll give you sunshine in your life again". Just let go....and.....Let God! :)

Our Trip to Macon, GA. the 1842 Inn, and the Cherry Blossom Festival

My husbands stepdaughter was attending Mercer Collage in Macon, GA., and when we would visit her we found this wonderful bed and breakfast just a few blocks from downtown Macon. Each spring Macon has the Cherry Blossom Festival which was their celebration of spring. Macon is full of Cherry Trees and at that time of year also, those trees are in full bloom and a beautiful sight to see. Along with this celebration the downtown area is set up with an arts and crafts festival, live music, and tons of food. It is absolutely fabulous!

This is Our Favorite Bed and Breakfast - 1842 Inn in Macon

This at one time was a grand antebellum plantation home built in 1842. The home was built by a man named John Gresham. Mr. Gresham was also the founder of the Macon Manufacturing Company, and forerunner of the present day Bibb Company. He was also active in southern politics, serving as mayor of Macon, a state Senator, and Justice of the State's Supreme Court. During the civil war he led a division of troops to fight the Yankees. His oldest son joined in the cause and fought with his father. He also had a younger son and daughter. During the war when Atlanta was burned and the Yankees were marching on to Macon, Mr. Gresham sent his wife and daughter away to stay with relatives, and the younger son stay at the home with servants as he had become very ill due to a fall from a tree that hurt his leg. The injury caused a great infection that they fought to control for five years to no avail. When he was seventeen, he died because of the infection.

On our first visit there, we met two of the older ladies who ran the 1842, Emma and Joann, very southern also. Both ladies were like a walking history book knowing everything about the Gresham family, the home, and about the second family that bought the home years later and all the neighboring families that used to live there in the area. All these homes there are just to die for, all very old and historical. I have a huge love of the civil war era and was spell bound by both of these women and their knowledge. We would sit out on the veranda late in the evenings and talk for hours. I found that there were two journals in their possession that were hand writings from the Gresham family and one was entirely written by the younger son. I spent our whole first weekend reading both journals. I was totally fascinated! One journal had a list of every member of the Gresham family on both sides, all the servants names and who belong to who, and right down to the names of their horses, cats, and dogs! The second journal was the one that was hand written by the younger son giving daily accounts of the progress of the war and also his health and family. I also found that one of the little black boy slaves, who was the younger Gresham's boys man servant, was actually his half brother! Mr. Gresham had a liking to the boy's mother I guess. Never found out if Mrs.Gresham knew that though. Another interesting fact that I read, was when the Yankees where heading to Macon, the family took all their valuables and silver and carved out a hole in one of the big white columns in the front of the house, the front veranda, and stashed all their things in there. I tried to see if I could figure out where, but the repair to it later was so good there wasn't a trace. I thought that was exciting to learn but it really all was fascinating.

After the war ended and Mr. Gresham and his oldest son returned home, later on the oldest son became a well known Presbyterian Minster and traveled all over the world. He also wrote a book that is there at the 1842 Inn, which I started to read but wasn't able to finish it. Next trip I'll get it done. I could go on and on with all I learned but I'm sure it would bore some of you so I won't. Here are some pictures we took of the 1842, with some being courtesy of the 1842. This home was almost torn down several years back. It had been vacant for quite some time and became a place for teenagers to hang out doing all kind of things they weren't supposed too. The neighbors had had it and wanted it torn down, but 10 business men went together and invested in it, put it back to its original beauty and turned it into the bed and breakfast it is now. There is also another home that they rescued from another part of town and had it moved to the back of the 1842. It also serves as additional rooms for the bed and breakfast. The place is gorgeous! All antique everything inside, and you will never be treated any better anywhere else in the world. They treat you like royalty! It's one of the greatest places I have ever been and it's with real southern hospitality! Enjoy the pictures of the 1842 and a few from the Cherry Festival too.

Library. That round table every afternoon at 5:00PM has a delicious food spread with appetizers & h'orderves. Soooooo good!

My sweetie and his stepdaughter Nikki in the sitting parlor across the entry from the front parlor. Off the sitting parlor is a large dining room too.

This also shows the other home that was rescued and moved to the property that has other suites to stay in.

The green tables is the area for breakfast. They have great food.

This was a wall of a building a few blocks from the 1842 I saw on our walk down to the arts and crafts festival that I thought pretty cool looking.

A local black artist. I watched him paint for a long while that day. His art is fabulous! His pieces tell a story of times a long time ago. Probably of a life he remembers and stories he has been told.

This is one of several living statues we saw that day. I really thought it was a real statue until it freaked me out when it changed positions! You can see some of the blossoms on the cherry trees around her too. It was truely a magnificant site with all the hundreds of trees in bloom! (Have no idea who the guy is, he was in my way it seems)!

And last, for crying up a river!,we have a real pink poodle with her pink toenails too! I died laughing! Love the visor! Thats a bit much for the dog I would think lol! Hope you enjoyed the stroll! Now I want to go back there right now. I love it there! I also found a huge antique mall there too! It was and is totally fab!
